Alexandra McArthur
Alexandra McArthur is a Buffalo-based vocalist and storyteller known for her warm, soulful tone and emotionally resonant performances. A four-time JazzBuffalo Poll winner for Female Vocalist of the Year (2018, 2021–2023), she has been a vibrant presence in the region’s music and theatre scenes for over a decade.
Ms. McArthur has appeared at venues and cultural institutions including MusicalFare, PAUSA Art House, Asbury Hall, Buffalo AKG, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Hallwalls, Sportsmen’s Tavern, and the Historic Colored Musicians Club, as well as regional jazz festivals throughout Western New York. Recent Theatre credits include Chiffon (LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS) and Joanne (RENT) with Starring Buffalo. Additional highlights include performances with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s Education Program and ongoing collaborations with The Buffalo Jazz Collective, George Caldwell, Harrison Graser, Dr. John Bacon, and Michael Ruopoli (Guabàza).
She frequently participates in tribute projects honoring influential voices in music, including Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday, Mavis Staples, Sarah Vaughan, Esperanza Spalding, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Vulfpeck.
Raised in a musically diverse household, Ms. McArthur studied voice at the University at Buffalo. She performs across jazz, theatre, and choral projects and is an alto and member of Vocalis, Buffalo’s premier chamber choir.
When not performing, Alex can be found practicing and composing music, spending time with loved ones and outdoors, and practicing yoga. She is deeply grateful to God and her support system for getting her to this moment. alexmcarthurmusic.com
